A school with over a thousand students and various problems at the end of Foladi district, Bamyan

This is a school at the end of Foladi District of Bamyan, Afghanistan. At present, there are over 1000 Hazara students studying in this school. Due to lack of capacity and extension programme, it consists of only six classrooms which are insufficient for twelve mammoth male and female classes. There aren’t extra more classrooms for the other students. Owing to lack of space, the male and female classes have been split up into two sections whereas the school opens early morning and run classes till late evening to cover the demand both the sections. The boy and girl students study in the school separately in shift pattern. The condition of the school is really bad as due to shortage of classrooms, teachers and basic amenities to be provided to the students. Ironically, more than half of the students are compelled to study outside the school in open air.

The Department for Education of Bamyan has never paid attention to resolve the afore-said essential shortages to meet the requirements of a good school. The Manager of school said, “Among other things, we bring the orders from the Ministry of Education to bring about necessary changes in the extension of school building as well as meeting the shortage of teachers, but the Department for Education at Bamyan never cared about our problems”.
